Laptop vs Tablet

With all of the really good deals going around, I'm thinking about getting a laptop or tablet for Christmas. I already have a good desktop, so I'm just looking for something on the go. Right now I'm leaning more towards a laptop because they can still way more than a tablet can. What do you guys think?

I love my laptop and I am able to do so much with it. I have a kindle and that is fine for reading and checking emails and facebook but I would not want a tablet to do a lot of work from.

I just got my first laptop in September and it's amazing. Though it overheats easily and is even laggier than my old desktop was. I love my laptop a lot. It was $250, which is actually a good deal for a computer, from Staples.

I have considered buying a Kindle Fire as my tablet as it would not only let me read ebooks but also runs apps for Netflix and can surf online. I like the added app functionality as it would be good for checking emails and such.

Maybe for Christmas I could get a tablet for light entertainment use.

Hmm, I use neither of them, but I think a tablet would be most handy for me.

I prefer my laptop since I do programming and game on it. With a tablet, it's very hard to write programs and even game properly like I do on my laptop. Obviously I have a tablet but I only use it for certain things.
